Discovery Flights
The Discovery Flights module gives your club a public booking page where prospective members and guests can request an introductory flight.
Overview
Discovery flights are a lead-generation and community tool. A prospective student or guest fills out a short form on your public discovery flight page, and the request lands in your admin inbox for you to follow up on.
This is separate from your member booking system — no login is required for the guest.
Enabling discovery flights
Discovery flights are available to Soar and Aero organizations. If the module doesn't appear in your admin sidebar, contact support@flycanopy.com.
Your public booking link
Your discovery flight page is at:
https://yourclub.flycanopy.com/book
Share this link on your website, social media, or at events. The page is publicly accessible — no login required.
What the guest sees
The booking form asks for:
- Name, email, and phone
- Preferred date(s)
- Any questions or notes
After submitting, the guest receives a confirmation email. You receive a notification and the request appears in Admin → Discovery Flights.
Managing requests
Go to Admin → Discovery Flights to see all incoming requests. For each request you can:
- Confirm — send a confirmation email with a scheduled date and time
- Decline — send a polite decline with a note
- Mark as Completed — after the flight has happened
Pricing and vouchers
If you charge for discovery flights, you can accept payment separately (outside Canopy) or issue a voucher through the vouchers system that the guest redeems at checkout. See Invoices & Vouchers.
Converting to a member
After a successful discovery flight, you can convert the guest to a full member from their discovery flight record: click Convert to Member to create a member record and send an invitation.
