Member Guide

This guide is for members of clubs and schools using Canopy — not for administrators. If you're an admin, see Getting Started.

Accessing your portal

Your club administrator sent you an invitation email with a link to set your password. Click that link, choose a password, and you're in.

Your portal URL is specific to your club. It looks like yourclub.flycanopy.com. Bookmark it — you'll use it every time you log in.

If you've lost the invitation or it expired, ask your club admin to resend it from the Members page.

Logging in

Go to your club's portal URL and click Log In. Enter the email address your admin used when they invited you.

If you've forgotten your password, click Forgot Password on the login page and you'll receive a reset email.

Your dashboard

After logging in you'll see your personal dashboard with:

  • Upcoming flights or bookings you've signed up for
  • Your account balance and any outstanding invoices
  • Recent activity and notifications from the club

Signing up for a flying day (soaring clubs)

Go to Flying Days in the navigation. You'll see upcoming flying days with available slots. Click a slot to sign up. If a slot is full or sign-ups are closed, it will be shown as unavailable.

To cancel a sign-up, go back to the flying day and click Cancel. Some clubs have a cancellation cutoff — if you can't cancel, contact your admin.

Booking an aircraft (flying clubs)

Go to Bookings in the navigation. Select the aircraft you want to book, choose a date, and pick an available time slot. You'll receive a confirmation email.

To cancel a booking, go to My Bookings and click Cancel next to the relevant booking. Cancellation policies vary by club.

Viewing your flights

Go to Flights to see your flight history — dates, aircraft, duration, and any charges associated with each flight.

Billing and invoices

Go to Billing to see:

  • Your current account balance
  • Outstanding invoices
  • Transaction history (payments, charges, credits)

To pay an invoice, click on it and follow the instructions. Your club may accept card payments, PayPal, or manual payment — whatever is shown is what they accept.

Your training records (Academy students)

If you're a student at a flight school using Canopy Academy, go to My Progress to see:

  • Your enrollment in courses and syllabi
  • Completed and upcoming lessons
  • Stage check results and instructor grades
  • Required documents and FAA endorsements

Your instructor records training sessions and grades after each lesson. If something looks wrong, contact your instructor or school admin.

Your logbook

Go to Logbook to see your flight records logged within Canopy. This reflects what the school or club has entered — it is not a replacement for your official FAA logbook, but it gives you a quick overview of your hours.

Updating your profile

Click your name in the top-right corner and go to My Profile. You can update:

  • Name and contact details
  • Phone number
  • Emergency contact information

You cannot change your email address or role yourself — contact your club admin for that.

Getting help

If you have questions about your account, billing, or the portal, contact your club administrator first — they can resolve most issues directly.

For platform-level issues (can't log in, portal is down, etc.), email support@flycanopy.com.
